Dear Madam or Sir:
Here is some information about logistics concerning the ZiF symposium in which you will be participating.
For those of you arriving on Wednesday October 19, a conference folder with more information will be distributed to you upon your arrival at the hotel 'Mercure Hotel Bielefeld City' (Waldhof). Please ask for this folder upon check-in at the hotel. By arriving on Thursday or later you will find your folder in front of the conference room.
Your hotel's address: Am Waldhof 15, 33602 Bielefeld. Phone: +49-521-52 80 0 (from within Germany: 0521-52 80 0; Fax: +49-521-52 80 113. GETTING TO THE HOTEL:
Most of you will be arriving in Bielefeld by train. As you exit Bielefeld 'Hauptbahnhof' you have a choice of either taking the tram or a taxi to your hotel. We ask that especially participants from Germany use the tram ('Stadtbahn'). If you feel that you need to use a taxi: Taxis will be waiting right outside the train station (approx. 10,-- EUR).
For getting to the tram: as you exit the train station, you will see Hotel Moevenpick right across from the train station. Walk past the right-hand side of Hotel Moevenpick. After about 20 yards you will see a triangular glass dome and the white letter 'U' on a blue surface: this is the entrance to the tram station. Purchase a single- ride ticket for 'Kurzzone' (short distance = 1,20 EUR) and take any of the four lines (line 1 direction 'Senne;' line 2 direction 'Sieker;' line 3 direction 'Stieghorst;' or line 4 direction 'Rathaus') and get off at the second stop: 'Rathaus.' From there it is a 5 minute walk to the hotel.
Coming by car: Please use the map I have sent to you with the hotel reservation letter.
You will find information about travelling to ZiF on our homepage: http://www.uni-bielefeld.de/(en)/ZIF/Allgemeines/anreise.html
