Location : Paris [ March 23rd-25th, 2006 ]

Direction : G. Sapiro

Abstract : A major aspect of the globalization process is to be treated, i.e. the progressive constitution of a worldwide publishing market and the development of new ways of diffusion and consecration (such as television) which lead to new fashions of producing literary products and new forms of heteronomy. The cultural exchanges on an international level will be discussed in respect of the economical as also the political and cultural stakes. Particular attention will be paid the actors and instances of this international market: Publishers, literary agents, translation institutes, international book fairs, etc. The consortium’s members implied in this thematic network will not halt at supervising the work of the young researchers on their chosen topic; they are also to grant continuity with the earlier meetings. Besides them, other senior researchers, recruited according to their specific competence in the aimed thematic field chosen from 80 researchers constituting the wide network, will be solicited together in agreement with the members of the consortium. Particular attention goes to the integration of scholars (juniors and seniors) coming from the new member countries.
